On Friday evening enjoy the Miss Shrimp Contest, Saturday begins early with a full day of activities including trap hauling, a codfish relay, old-fashioned fish fry, lobster crate races, and lots more. May 07 - Kennebunk - Kennebunk May Day Celebration - Kennebunk's 13th Annual May Day Festival promises to be a full-day of family-friendly fun activities throughout Downtown Kennebunk. Start off at Duffy's Tavern and Grill who will once again host a pancake breakfast to benefit the May Day Festival. Visit the Brick Store Museum to make your own May-basket and see the Maine Women in the Arts exhibit. Attend the faerie garden planting at the Kennebunk Free Library and while there check out the book/bake sale put on by the Friends of the Library. Celebrate opening day for The Kennebunk Farmers Market and shop the craft market booths with artists/craftspeople on Main Street. Climb the rock wall. In between there will be live music, safety demonstrations, wagon rides, a teddy bear clinic and white elephant sales. Lafayette Park will be hosting May Pole dancing and face painting, pottery wheel and Tai Chi demonstrations. Non-profits will set up here to provide information and creative ways to support them. You'll also find another collection of artists/crafts people along with more live music later in the afternoon. The May Day Parade will begin at 1:30 p.m. and includes many of our Little Leaguers in full uniform. May 07 - Bath - Bath Mayfair - The Bath Mayfair features a pancake breakfast, maypole dancing, music, face painting, scavenger hunt, barbeque and more. The Mayfair also features the Bath Citywide Yard Sale, the largest yard sale in Maine.
May 14 thru Jun 12 - Greenville - Moose Mainea - Each spring the Moosehead Lake Region hosts a month long celebration of the area's favorite resident - The Moose! The events take place during the time of the year when moose are most visible. This year's events include the Moose River Canoe Race, Moosterpiece Craft Fair, Moose Mainea Kid's Fun Day, Famous Moose Tales, a Quest Fest, and the Chamber of Commerce's Annual Moose Photo Contest. May 21 thru May 22 - Portland - Maine Comic Arts Festival - The Maine Comic Arts Festival features writers, artists and publishers from the field of comics. Programming on Saturday and Festival on Sunday. Check website to confirm event location, but in 2010 it was held at the Ocean Gateway facility in Portland. Event hotels included the Portland Regency Hotel.
May 27 - Livermore Falls - Livermore Falls History Night - Take a walk down memory lane! Downtown Livermore Falls from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday night. A tribute to the rich heritage of Livermore Falls. Sponsored and organized by the Downtown Betterment Group, this annual celebration highlights the unique past of Livermore Falls - Horse drawn wagon rides, photo and antique exhibits, historic crafts, antique cars, varied music at the Gazebo, lots of food, and children's activities. The free family event is a celebration of the spring running and life in, on and along the Kennebec River that will feature live music performances hosted by the Kennebec Conservatory, demonstrations by the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association, Native American drumming by the Burnurwurbskek Singers of the Penobscot Indian Nation, the Fort to Fort Canoe and Kayak Expedition, a craft show featuring Maine artisans, and much more. Jun 11 - Damariscotta - 4th Annual Damariscotta Pirate Rendezvous - 4th Annual Pirate Rendezvous The Mystic Pirates sail into the scenic midcoast towns of Damariscotta and Newcastle and take over the in-town area until 4 p.m., when they will fade back into history. A Pirate Bazaar located at the riverside Schooner Landing Restaurant and Marina will feature themed retail stands and daylong music and entertainment. Children will be able to enjoy a variety of games at the Capt. Kidd's Pirate Camp on Water Street. Both of these venues open at 10 a.m. Businesses and restaurants throughout in-town Damariscotta and Newcastle will also be in on the fun, with pirate themed specials and decor. When the pirates invade at high noon, children will be invited to participate in the defense of the town. Once the pirates have invaded and convinced all the townfolk and children to seek the riches of the lost treasure, the children will be involved in a day-long drama to find the hidden plunder that will include a Crew Muster and Pirate Costume Contest, and a Treasure Hunt that will take the children through businesses of the in-town area as they search for the Lost Treasure of the Mystic Pirates. Proceeds benefit Lincoln County Family Holiday Wishes.

Take a "Lupine by Sea" boat ride, follow a Lupine Loop driving tour, or go on private and public garden tours. There will also be free lupine seeds, lupine-themed art, craft, sculpture and quilt shows, and a variety of children's events at the Deer Isle Opera House. In addition to booth vendors, there will be a food area that highlights the talents and cuisines of Kittery. The EcoMovement will be on hand with recycling stations throughout the area as we try to make this a Zero Waste event.
