Abu Dhabi Customs, CBP to Cooperate on Cargo Targeting - The Abu Dhabi General Administration of Customs will be the first customs administration from the Middle East to participate in the International Cargo Targeting Fellowship Program of Customs and Border Protection as part of an agreement signed April 20 by the two agencies. CBP Seizes Rare Coins Determined to be Counterfeit - Chicago - Chicago U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers assigned to the International Mail Branch last week made an interesting discovery of a shipment of U.S. Trade Dollar coins arriving from China. Suspicion was raised by the officers when they noticed an anomaly on the X-ray of a heavy package intended for a residence in Illinois. (more)
Arizona CBP Officers Seize 4 Tons of Marijuana Worth $41 Million - Nogalas, Ariz. - In less than 24 hours, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the Port of Nogales, Ariz. stopped two inbound and one outbound smuggling attempts. More than 8,000 pounds of marijuana in commercial shipments of charcoal and more than 15,000 rounds of ammunition hidden in a pickup truck were seized. (more)
CBP Joins Flood Relief Efforts in N.D. - Fargo, N.D. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection has joined the flood response efforts after the Federal Emergency Management Agency announcement that federal disaster aid was made available to North Dakota to supplement the state and local recovery efforts in the area struck by flooding beginning on April 5. Electronic System for Travel Authorization - ESTA is an automated system that determines the eligibility of visitors to travel to the U.S. under the Visa Waiver Program. The ESTA application collects the same information collected on Form I-94W. ESTA applications may be submitted at anytime prior to travel, though it is recommended travelers apply when they begin preparing travel plans. (more)

Reminder from CBP: Kinder Eggs Banned From Import Into U.S. - Washington - As the Easter holiday approaches, U.S. Customs and Border Protection would like to remind the traveling public that Kinder Eggs, a popular chocolate treat, is banned from being imported into the U.S.In fiscal year 2010, CBP seized nearly 25,000 Kinder Eggs in 1,700 separate incidents. CBP Khapra Beetle Interceptions Surpass 2010 Numbers - Washington - This calendar year, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agriculture specialists have made 44 Khapra Beetle interceptions. This is more than the total interceptions in calendar year 2010. The interceptions were made in the passenger, air and sea cargo environment in nine CBP field offices, including San Francisco, New York, Houston and Chicago. (more)
San Angelo CBP Air Branch Integral in Controlling Wildfires - San Angelo, Texas - As damage from wildfires approaches 1 million acres across Texas, U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Office of Air and Marine continue to provide valuable support to local, state and federal emergency responders.On April 11, air interdiction agents from CBP OAM's San Angelo Air Unit helped contain a wildfire near San Angelo.
