Qatari shares end mixed -
Qatar: The Doha-based QE Index closed 0.12% higher at 8,502.49 points. All sector indices gained, except the banking and financial index. Takaful operator Islamic insurance bucked the sector trend and surged 2.36% higher to QR56.40. LG launches Cinema 3D TVs in Qatar -

International Insurance Society appoints Ambassador for Qatar -
Qatar: Khalid Al Mughesib, Deputy CEO of Qatar Insurance Services (QIS) and Board member of Qatarlyst, has been appointed as Ambassador for Qatar by the International Insurance Society (IIS). Qatar First Investment Bank eyes regional deals -
Qatar: Emad Mansour, chief executive of Qatar First Investment Bank, has revealed the lender is eyeing at least five regional equity deals each valued at between $15m and $60m and expects to close two to three of those acquisitions this year, Reuters has reported. "We have a healthy pipeline of investment deals. We are eyeing deals in Qatar, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and UAE in areas such as healthcare and food processing," Mansour told the news service. The investment bank, which acquired a $16m stake in Kuwait Energy last week, will continue its acquisition spree despite caution in the marketplace that stalled its original plans for $250m in deals in 2011, he said. Qatari bank shares partly resist market dip -
Qatar: The Doha-based QE Index closed 0.11% lower at 8,492.71 points. Qatar National Bank added half a percent and finished at QR144.70. Only the baning and financial index added value. Doha Insurance lost the most and closed off 1.73% at QR28.40. Cinema jumped 9.27% to reach QR66.00. [AMEInfo.com]
